An unexpected injury changes the course of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The 7th ED of the Africa Eco Race 2025, from Benichab to Amodjar in Mauritania, finished with Jacopo Cerutti in 1st place, followed by Francesco Montanari in 2nd.
The Special Course was affected by an accident at the refueling checkpoint, which led to the cancellation of the Race. The accident occurred shortly before 13.00. One of the organization’s light aircraft, during takeoff and for an as yet unknown technical reason, collided with the truck that was parked to supply the competitors. In the accident, the Italian rider with the No. 58, Andrea Perfetti. With an ambulance already on the scene, the injured rider was quickly attended to before being airlifted to the nearest hospital. The mobilization of air rescue resources forced the Race management to cancel it.

The 7th ED, covering a distance of 467.75 km, took the riders on a particularly difficult course from Benichab to Amodjar. The terrain posed significant challenges, including sand, high temperatures, fast trails, complex navigation and two large dune belts.
Jacopo Cerutti overcame the setbacks he encountered in ED 6, closing the gap in the general classification to 4’39” behind Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team leader Alessandro Botturi.

Francesco Montanari completed the 1-2 finish, closing 1’54” behind his teammate and consolidating his position in 3rd overall. Meanwhile, Marco Menichini finished 22nd overall, 15’58” behind the winner.
