Domestic. The government follows MSB’s line and now decides to allocate 15 billion per year to build up a civil defense that will deal with “the initial consequences” of a war with Russia from 2028, reports SVT. But only 1.4 billion of these refer to shelters and the like.

These include shelters, clean water, transport infrastructure and electronic communications for the initial phase of World War III.

According to the government Powerpoint is this “the largest civilian defense buildup since the Cold War”.

In addition to the initial stage of the war, the money should also be sufficient for “an increased ability to ensure some endurance in a more protracted course”, according to the government.

– These sectors are particularly important for building a basic robustness in society, if there is an armed attack against Sweden, says Minister of Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin (M), who, however, has no military experience himself.

Of the allocation, however, only 1.4 billion goes to population protection, while the largest items are “health care” and “other”. Otherwise, public order and grants to voluntary defense organisations, banks and the protection of cultural heritage, for example, are included.
