1.8 million euros in donations from income taxes to the Society for Cardiovascular Diseases AED

Tax payers allocated a good 15 million euros in income tax last year to associations, organizations, institutions and other beneficiaries. It is the percentage of income tax that taxpayers could allocate to any of the 7,000 organizations last year (this year there are already 9,000) that meet the conditions of Article 142 of the Income Tax Act and are on the list, which is approved by the government every year by the end of September.

List init includes non-governmental organizations, political parties, schools and kindergartens, trade unions, registered churches and other religious communities and their constituent parts. “For the year 2024, the list includes 6,105 non-governmental organizations in the public interest, 59 registered churches and other religious communities, 1,033 constituent parts of registered churches and other religious communities, 88 representative trade unions, 87 political parties and 642 schools and kindergartens,” explained the Ministry of Finance.

The calculation and payment of the percentage of income tax to the beneficiaries is carried out by the Financial Administration (FURS). As they said, the bulk of donations collected with a percentage of income tax for 2023 were paid out to the beneficiaries in September this year. In a few months, the payment of donations, in connection with which they received objections, will follow. “These are extremely few,” they explained to us in a telephone conversation at the Financial Administration.

For 2023, there were 641,238 donations, in the total amount of 15.3 million euros. A year-on-year comparison shows an increase in the number of donations and collected amounts. The previous year’s income tax collected 592,533 donations and 13.3 million euros.

Many fire brigades are among the recipients of donations.

The donor can choose several recipients

It is not necessary or even possible for taxpayers to donate the entire percentage of income tax to one beneficiary. For example, the maximum possible amount for school funds is 0.3 percent, which means that the resident can allocate the remaining 0.7 percent to another (or others). So to speak, the whole percentage can be divided into tens, one person can choose ten recipients of donations, each will receive 0.1 percent of his income tax. The easiest and simplest way to submit a donation application is in the eDavki online application. The application is considered permanent, unless the beneficiary is no longer on the list or if next year we decide on another organization to which we want to donate part of our income tax. In this case, we fill out a new role that overrides the old one. If we want the same organization to receive our income tax donation every year, then we fill out the application once and there is no need to refresh or resubmit it later.

Who are the recipients of the highest donations?

Last year, the highest amount of donations, close to 1.8 million euros, was received by the Society for Cardiovascular Diseases AED. Donations totaled 84,600.
