1.8 million new postpaid subscribers to Turkcell in the last year

Turkcell ended the second quarter of 2024 with strong financial and operational results. The company increased its net subscriber count by 346 thousand in the second three-month period of the year, and its total subscriber count in Turkey reached 43.2 million. Turkcell’s net postpaid subscriber count increased by 477 thousand in this quarter, and the number of postpaid subscribers it gained in the last year was 1.8 million. Turkcell, which exhibited a resilient performance when macroeconomic factors were taken into consideration, had group revenues of 34.9 billion TL in the second quarter of the year,

Turkcell, the first and only Turkish company to be listed simultaneously on the Istanbul and New York stock exchanges, completed the second quarter of 2024 with strong results. Turkcell General Manager Dr. Ali Taha Koç announced that they carried their strong operational performance into the second quarter of the year.

While our postpaid subscriber base increased by a net 477 thousand in this quarter, the number of postpaid subscribers we gained in the last year was 1.8 million,” he said.

He also made statements regarding the sale of his subsidiaries in Ukraine. With this perspective, we constantly evaluate our portfolio and implement our strategic actions when appropriate conditions are provided. In this context, we completed the process regarding the sale of our assets in Ukraine, which we announced at the end of 2023, on September 9 and provided 524.3 million dollars of foreign exchange inflow to our country in the first phase. Considering the war conditions in Ukraine that have intensified since 2022, we are pleased to have successfully completed this process as Turkcell. Our goal is to focus on new investments that will contribute to the digital transformation of our country.”

LOWEST MOBILE SUBSCRIBER CHANGE RATE IN THE LAST 6 YEARS

Turkcell continued to be the choice of subscribers with the campaigns it launched as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations in the second quarter of the year. With the contribution of innovative services such as the ‘Smart Bill’ service and the ’30th Anniversary Multiplication Campaign’, Turkcell’s monthly average mobile subscriber churn rate was 1.5 percent, the lowest level in the last 6 years.

FIXED SUBSCRIBER CHART RATE FALLS TO LOWEST LEVEL SINCE 2006

Turkcell continued to focus on fiber subscribers in the fixed broadband segment. With the demand for high-speed and high-quality fiber services, it gained 42 thousand net fiber subscribers, while its fiber subscriber base reached 2.4 million. While the total fixed subscriber base approached 3.2 million, the subscriber churn rate fell to 1.2 percent, the lowest level since 2006.

THE STRONG CONTRIBUTION OF TECHFIN’S ACTIVITIES CONTINUES

The techfin area, which Turkcell provides services with the Financell and Paycell brands, continued its high contribution to group growth in this quarter. Financell’s revenues increased by 33.9 percent on an annual basis to TL 947 million, while its credit portfolio reached TL 6.3 billion at the end of the second quarter. Paycell, which offers secure payment solutions, increased its revenues by 15.8 percent on an annual basis. The transaction volume of the ‘Later Pay’ service (outside the group) increased by 34 percent to TL 2.6 billion, while POS solutions, which have been in high demand since their launch, continued to strengthen their place in the product portfolio with an 86 percent increase in transaction volume.

CONTINUED TO CELEBRATE ITS 30TH ANNIVERSARY WITH ITS CUSTOMERS IN THE SECOND QUARTER

Turkcell, which started a new era in communication technologies with the first ‘Alo’ from mobile phones in 1994, continued to offer its innovative and comprehensive campaigns to its customers in the second quarter of its 30th anniversary. Turkcell, which has been celebrating its 30th anniversary with different surprises since the beginning of the year, offers many advantages to its customers. Turkcell, which doubled the GB and minutes in its subscribers’ packages with its doubling campaign, launched many campaigns that will last throughout the year, such as cinema and food benefits for young people with GNÇ. Turkcell also distributed a total of 30 million GB of internet as a gift to its customers during the Eid al-Adha with its ‘Shake and Win’ campaign.

PAYCELL’S LOCAL PAYMENT METHOD TROY CARD IS IN USE Turkey’s digital payment and financial services platform Paycell combined TROY, the domestic solution for card payment systems, with Paycell Card in the second quarter of the year. Users can create a TROY virtual card via the Paycell application and have an easier, faster and more secure experience in their domestic shopping.

5G TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS OPENED AT ITU

The 5G Technology Campus, established in collaboration with Istanbul Technical University, Turkcell and Ericsson, began operating in April. Within the scope of the R&D collaboration that brings together the private sector and academia, 5G technologies will be developed and a contribution will be made to the training of qualified human resources in the field established in the ITU Ayazağa Campus.
