1. FC Kaiserslautern is stalking the promotion ranks of the 2nd Bundesliga. The four-time champion won 3:2 (3:1) against Eintracht Braunschweig on matchday 13. After five games without defeat, the Red Devils are only two points behind third place.
Filip Kaloc (17th), Ragnar Ache (41st) and Daniel Hanslik (45th + 2) were successful for the Palatinate team. Rayan Philippe (45th, penalty kick/90th+6) scored a brace for the defensively weak Braunschweigers, who remain in the bottom of the table.
After a few defensive problems in the first few minutes, the hosts pushed for the lead. Kaloc’s goal was the logical consequence. However, the FCK subsequently failed to add any further goals. There were plenty of opportunities for this. By far the biggest was Ache, who only hit the post in the 37th minute. Shortly afterwards the attacker did better from close range.
Braunschweig’s goal came out of nowhere. The penalty decision in favor of the guests was doubtful. Hanslik restored the old distance before the break.
At the start of the second half, FCK’s fourth goal was in the air several times. Ache should have increased the score in the 56th minute at the latest.
