Department of Environment and Chittagong district administration fined Tk 1 lakh 80 thousand after raiding 4 illegal brick kilns in Raujan.
The operation was conducted in Joynagar, Rashidapara and Kalampati areas of the upazila on Wednesday (October 9). District Administration, Chittagong Executive Magistrate Rakibul Islam led the operation.
He said that M/s Yamuna Bricks Industries (Marca-SB) violated Section 5 of the Brick Preparation and Kiln Installation (Regulation) Act 2013 (Amendment Act 2019) by illegally cutting soil from a place without permission of the District Commissioner and preparing it for use in brick making. ) Sajjad Hossain Chowdhury (37) manager of brick kiln, M/s Hazrat Jalil Shah (R) Bricks (Marka-FBB) manager Md Ilyas (55), M/s Anwar Bricks Industries (Marka 505) – 500 in 03 separate cases. A total fine of 1 lakh 80 thousand rupees including 30 thousand rupees was levied on Md. Abul Kalam (34), manager of M/s Ekta Bricks (Marka-AB) brick kiln in 01 cases.
