One of the members of the Reddit community platform decided to imagine JRR Tolkien’s work as a samurai film directed by the legendary Akira Kurosawa. This idea is a bit crazy, but it does not leave you indifferent, we like it or we do not like it, it’s a matter of taste.
The Lord of the Rings: an essential saga
The Lord of the Rings is a saga that was written by JRR Tolkien and it has won the hearts of readers and spectators thanks to a very beautiful adaptation by Peter Jackson. It traces the adventures of Frodo Baggins and his companions in their quest to destroy the One Ring, which is highly coveted by the forces of evil.
As said before, the idea of transforming The Lord of the Rings in samurai film directed by Akira Kurosawacame to life on the Reddit platform, and is one of its active members, ShaneKaiGlenn who created this project using generative artificial intelligence Midjourney. He created specific prompts mentioning director Akira Kurosawa, who is well known for his feature films samurai.
As a reminder, director Akira Kurosawa has made cult films such as The Seven Samurai, Rshomon et Ran. It mainly focuses on narration with the theme of honor and justice as in the promises of the samurai.

Although these images are very realistic, The Lord of the Rings in samurai film by Akira Kurosawa never existed, and there are no plans to take up the director’s style. However, it must be recognized that ShaneKaiGlenn’s idea is very surprising and that well-mastered artificial intelligence allows to create magnificent images in the style.
This is not the first time that a fan of Tolkien’s work has challenged himself to create a different version than the one we know. For example, we were treated to an 80s version of this sublime film saga, but it’s hard to get hooked when you remember Peter Jackson’s version. And another version that is really beautiful and makes you want to see the project come to fruition is the Lord of the Rings in cartoon version. It is certainly the most anticipated of all.
