1,000 measles cases in the last month of 2024

A number of 1,003 cases of measles were registered in December 2024, according to the National Institute of Public Health (INSP).

Most of these came from the counties of Neamț (382), Suceava (94) and Constanța (75). From the beginning of the reporting period, January 1, 2023, until December 31, 2024, 27,234 cases of measles were registered.

Starting from January 1, 2023, there were 22 deaths due to measles (five in Bucharest, four in Brașov county, three in Giurgiu county, two each in Argeș and Iași counties, one each in Mureș, Sibiu, Buzău, Constanța counties , Alba and Ialomita).

According to INSP, the 22nd death (reported in Iași county) was of a one-year-and-two-month-old boy, not vaccinated against ROR.
