In the magical world of audiobooks it will stand out more Spotify following a new partnership that allows more than 1,000 new books to be added to its library.
The Swedish streaming platform works with Bloomsbury, one of the biggest publishers in the UK, to bring titles like Want, Gillian Anderson’s recent bestseller.
Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s director of audiobook partnerships and licensing, announced the partnership on the one-year anniversary of adding audiobooks in the Premium package. The catalog expands with “a stellar line-up of titles from established authors,” including Sarah J. Maas, William Dalrymple, Alan Moore, Madeline Miller, Dan Jones, Samantha Shannon and Ann Patchett.
These authors’ titles are paired with narration by top talent including Meryl Streep, Emilia Clarke, Adjoa Andoh and Jamie Lee Curtis.
With this partnership, Sam Halstead, director of audio content at Bloomsbury, emphasized that many authors and storytellers will become even more popular with listeners.
Spotify added that since releasing the audiobooks, the company has paid “hundreds of millions of dollars to publishers” on an annual basis.
