1,180 hospitals available every day during Chuseok holidays in Seoul

In preparation for the occurrence of patients during the Chuseok holiday, Seoul City will operate a 24-hour emergency medical system and designate and operate approximately 12,000 ‘open hospitals and pharmacies’ to ensure that patients with mild symptoms can easily receive treatment. In addition, 25 district health centers and 7 municipal hospitals will operate ‘emergency treatment teams.’

According to Seoul City on the 11th, an average of 1,184 hospitals and clinics (5,922 total) will open in Seoul from the 14th to the 18th. An average of 1,306 pharmacies (6,533 total) will be open per day. The city designated pharmacies to be open near hospitals and clinics that are open. If you combine the hospitals and clinics that are open and the pharmacies, the average number of pharmacies will be 2,500 per day during the Chuseok holiday.

Seoul emergency medical institutions and emergency rooms at general hospitals and above will operate 24 hours during the Chuseok holidays. A total of 69 emergency medical institutions will be in operation, including 31 regional/local emergency medical centers including Seoul National University Hospital, 18 local emergency medical institutions including Seoul City Seonam Hospital, and 20 hospitals operating emergency rooms.

In addition, eight ‘Our Children’s Peace of Mind Hospitals’ for pediatric emergency patients and three ‘Our Children’s Specialized Emergency Centers’ for severely ill pediatric emergency patients will operate 24 hours a day. Thirteen ‘Moonlight Children’s Hospitals’ in charge of outpatient treatment for mildly ill pediatric patients will also open.

All public health centers in Seoul’s 25 autonomous districts will operate as normal on Chuseok, and emergency treatment teams equivalent to half of the staff in each region will rotate for four days before and after Chuseok.

Information on hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies that are open during the holiday period can be found on the Seoul City 2024 Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Information website, the websites of 25 autonomous districts, and the Emergency Medical Portal. Over-the-counter medicines such as digestive aids, antipyretics, analgesics, cold medicine, and patches can be purchased at 7,310 stores, including convenience stores.
