The Austrian police in Vienna’s New Town are intensively investigating all the circumstances of the accident that happened during the fireworks display: the 14-year-old was left without at least one finger, reports Heute. The incident happened on the day before Christmas around 4 pm in the afternoon.
At that time, the young man was releasing fireworks into the air in the courtyard of the residential complex. He allegedly tried to light the firecracker several times with a lighter. On the third attempt, he was supposed to succeed, but because the incendiary cord was too short, the firecracker burst in the boy’s hand. In the accident, the unfortunate boy “shot off” at least one of his fingers. Relatives took the seriously injured to the hospital.
