15,000 pieces Yabara case life sentence of expatriate

Saudi expatriate Anik, who was arrested with 15,500 pieces of yaba from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the tribunal.

Anik was brought to court from jail before the verdict was announced. After the verdict, he was taken back to prison with a warrant.

According to the case, Anik was arrested on January 16, 2023 while traveling from Bangladesh to Dammam, Saudi Arabia based on secret information. His bag was searched and 15,500 pieces of yaba were recovered.

Inspector Azadul Islam Chalam of Narcotics Control Directorate of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport filed a case against two people at the airport police station the next day. After investigating the case, another inspector of the directorate, Hossain Mia, filed a charge sheet accusing two people on April 3, 2023. After that, the court ordered to start the trial by framing the charges against the two defendants. During the trial of the case, the court accepted the testimony of 11 people.
