Coast Guard has seized 1.6 lakh meters of illegal current nets in Chandpur during a raid in the Meghna river.
Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi, media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, gave this information on Monday.
He said, on the basis of secret information, Coast Guard Station Chandpur conducted a special operation in the area adjacent to the Meghna River estuary this afternoon. During the operation, 1 lighter ship bound for Barisal from Munshiganj was searched and approximately 16 lakh meters of illegal current net was seized.
Later seized illegal current net senior fisheries officer. In the presence of Tanzimul Islam, it was destroyed by fire.
