The prison sentence was announced for a 20-year-old young driver living in Florida, who crashed into another vehicle with his BMW M5 brand vehicle and caused the death of six people in early 2022.
DEFENSE AGREEMENT!
The young man, who would have been sentenced to a maximum of 90 years in prison if the case went to court, decided to make a plea deal with prosecutors instead.
HIT FROM BEHIND
The fatal accident, which had a wide public impact, occurred on January 27, 2022. At the time, 17-year-old Noah Thomas Galle, the son of a lawyer, was driving a 2019 BMW M5, which he reportedly purchased with $100,000 in cash. On the day of the accident, Galle lost control of his high-powered sedan and crashed into the back of a Nissan Rogue.
THE CAR TROPPED FALLOVERS
The impact was so violent that it slammed the rear of the SUV into the passenger compartment and threw the vehicle forward several meters. The Nissan brand vehicle then hit the median and rolled over several times.
HIGH SPEED VIDEO SHARING
All six passengers in the Nissan died in the accident. Galle did not even receive any serious injuries. According to investigators, Galle was traveling at 243 km/h at the time of the crash. Before the fatal crash, Galle had made several social media posts on Instagram and TikTok boasting about his speed, in one of which he went up to 293 km/h and told his followers that he would send them $25 if they guessed his speed correctly.
THE PUNISHMENT WAS SHOCKING
Galle pleaded guilty to six counts of vehicular manslaughter and to serve 12 years, 180 days in prison to avoid going to trial. Following his sentence, he will be placed on probation for seven years and will lose his driver’s license for three years. He was also required to complete 800 hours of community service, attend a 12-hour driving course, participate in a victim panel and post a video advocating safe driving on social media.
THEY DID NOT OPPOSE THE DEFENSE…
Chief Deputy State’s Attorney Alan Johnson said that, interestingly, the families of the victims did not object to the defense.
“The victims’ families have written to us that they do not object to this plea,” Johnson said in a statement to People.
“Some didn’t even want him to go to jail. One of them wanted us to drop the case altogether. What is the appropriate punishment in such a case? No prison sentence will bring the victims back to their families. We think this is an appropriate decision. “This case is a tragedy.”
