Coast Guard seized 210,000 yaba from a wooden boat in Shahpari Island under Teknaf police station of Cox’s Bazar.
These yaba were seized from Sabrang Khurermukh sea area adjacent to Shahpari Island in Teknaf on Monday morning. However, on sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, the drug dealers fled from the boat.
Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taki, the media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, gave this information at noon on this day.
He said that a special operation was conducted in the area by BCG Outpost Shahpari under Coast Guard Eastern Zone in the morning on tip-off. During the raid, if the movement of an engine-powered wooden boat appeared suspicious, the Coast Guard raiding party signaled the boat to stop. But the boat disobeyed the signal and tried to escape.
Meanwhile, the boat got stuck in the sea at the mouth of Sabrang Khur and the two drug dealers in the boat swam and escaped to the shore. Later, Coast Guard members searched the boat and seized 210,000 pieces of yaba wrapped in 2 sacks.
The seized Yaba has been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
