2-year-old best horse selection, Seoul ‘Silver Lane’ Busan ‘Winner Clear’ wins first stage < Leisure < Article

Last weekend, the Juvenile Series, which aims to determine the next generation of Korean horse racing leaders, opened at the Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jeong Gi-hwan) Let’s Run Park in Seoul and Busan.

The Juvenile Series, which is a 2-year-old best horse selection race, is held three times from September to November. The first and second races are held regionally in Seoul and Busan, and the last race is a combined race between Seoul and Busan. In this race, which was held as the first gate of the series, the Munhwa Ilbo Cup (Listed class, domestic 2-year-old male and female, 1200m) held in Seoul on the 7th was won by ‘Silver Rain’, and the Busan Metropolitan City Gangseo-gu Mayor’s Cup held in Busan on the 8th was won by ‘Winner Clear’.

The races held one day apart drew attention as the winner was decided by a similar development. In the 29th Munhwa Ilbo Cup held in Seoul, the winning horse ‘Silver Lane (sire: Tohonor & Sub, offspring: Fleet Causeway)’ took second place, sharing the lead with ‘Masterpiece Sidae’. The race was a fierce competition, and the winner was decided when ‘Silver Lane’ showed stamina at the end and took the lead 200m before the final straight. ‘Masterpiece Sidae’, which had been in first place throughout the race, took second place.

In Busan, the Busan Metropolitan City Gangseo-gu Mayor’s Cup Grand Prix, which was newly established this year, was scheduled as the first race of the Juvenile Series. The winning horse, ‘Winner Clear (sire: KLIMT, dam: Clear Creedence)’, took the top spot with a quick start and competed for the lead with ‘Yongbi Paewang’ throughout the race. ‘Winner Clear’, which maintained the top spot throughout the race, showed an even more amazing spurt as it entered the straight track, winning wire-to-wire.

In this race, jockeys who were thirsty for the grand prize received applause from fans as they proudly put their names on the list. Jockey Jeong Jeong-hee (win rate 6.5%, place rate 13.6%) won the grand prize race for the first time in three years with the Munhwa Ilbo Cup, and jockey Jin Gyeom (win rate 9.1%, place rate 19.5%) won the grand prize for the first time in five years since the 2019 Gyeongnam Domin Ilbo Cup.

Meanwhile, the unpredictable battle of 2-year-old horses that grow differently every day continues with the second race of Juvenile in the Seoul Nonghyup Central Chairman’s Cup (L, 1400m) and Busan Gimhae Mayor’s Cup on October 20.
