20,000 will receive mail from the Tax Agency on December 2 – are you affected?

The Tax Agency started sending out the income declaration for the income year 2023 between March 4 and 8 to those with a digital mailbox.

Those who chose to sign from March 19 could then look forward to a tax refund between April 9 and 12.

4-7 June, the Swedish Tax Agency paid out a tax refund to you who declared no later than 2 May and whose declaration has been approved.

The Swedish Tax Agency pays out money during the specified dates

The most common is that there is declaration fever during the spring and summer. But the fact is that it is not only when a tax refund is paid or residual tax must be paid.

During both the late summer, autumn and winter, the authority pays out refunds on an ongoing basis and demands back the residual tax. Usually, individuals are affected during this period who have made additions or changes to their income tax return. Or simply chose to wait to sign it.

From time to time, the Tax Agency goes out on its website and calls on those who have not entered the correct bank account details or paid their back taxes to do so, before the specified date is reached. The risk that this may entail for you who have back taxes to pay but do not do so on time, is that the amount may eventually end up with the Enforcement Directorate. Once there, the debt results in a notice – which can also make it more difficult for you to apply for loans or installments.

Remaining date for the tax notice

The Swedish Tax Agency sends out the final tax notice to those who have not yet received it during the year. It then refers to the income year 2023 and arrives at those with a digital mailbox between December 2 and 6.

Those who do not have a digital mailbox will receive the final tax notice one to three weeks later in the mailbox.

You who are waiting for a tax refund will receive the money in the account in connection with the final tax notice. The money is paid out between December 3 and 6. Make sure you have reported correct account and bank details to the Swedish Tax Agency in order to receive the money on time.

You who have to repay back tax must have made the payment so that the money reaches the Tax Office’s account by March 12, 2025 at the latest.

20,000 people must share half a million

Now the authority has again issued information about those who have money to get back on the tax for the income year 2023.

But how many people can there possibly be who have not received their money yet? News24 has been in contact with the Swedish Tax Agency’s press secretary, Jany Plevnikwhich gives an account of how many people receive money on December 6 and how much in total is in kroner and ören.

– Based on figures from last year, we estimate that around 20,000 private individuals will receive tax refunds during the month of December and that the total amount is around SEK 500,000,000, says Plevnik.

On his homepage they explain what you, who are still waiting for the refund, need to do before any money can dip into the account.

“The Tax Agency pays out the tax refund between December 3 and 6 to you who have not previously been notified of your final tax or who lack tax registration in Sweden. To have the money paid out automatically, you need to have notified us of your bank account,” writes the Tax Agency.
