22 people were injured in an explosion in the paddocks of Germany’s famous Nurburgring circuit. According to police, the accident happened on Friday afternoon and is believed to have been caused by the explosion of a compressed air cylinder.
Four people were seriously injured and several of the injured were airlifted to nearby hospitals.
The accident occurred behind pit box 27, in the paddock area of the track during a test and preparation ahead of the NLS4 race (Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie 4).
Organizers said the match would be held after consultation with all parties involved, but said participation was voluntary.
