Audi has published the first photos and information for the second generation of the Q5 Sportback. The coupe SUV will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLC and will also offer a sports version.

The German manufacturer has launched the second generation Q5 Sportback, a variant with a sportier design for the classic Q5. The new model is slimmer than its predecessor, but sacrifices the practicality of the Q5’s classic body shape.

Like the new Q5, the Sportback version also features an LED light bar at the rear.

The new generation of the SUV will also be available in the form of the SQ5 sports car

Those who want their coupe SUV to look even more aggressive can opt for the S-Line package or the sporty SQ5 version. Both offer spoilers with prominent intakes and elements finished in satin gray.

Being built on the exact same platform, the two models use a common range of engines. In Europe, the Q5 Sportback is available exclusively with mild-hybrid engines, both petrol and diesel. Audi says the range of engines will grow later, including plug-in hybrid powertrains.

In Germany, the Q5 Sportback has a starting price of €54,800 and the SQ5 Sportback starts at €85,400.
