◆Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital achieves 4,000 surgical robotic surgeries
The Catholic University of Korea’s Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital Department of Surgery recently achieved 4,000 robotic surgeries and held a commemorative event in front of the cancer center outpatient department on the 3rd floor on the morning of the 12th. Recently, robotic surgery has been used as much as laparoscopy in clinical settings, and Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital has also actively reflected the trend of the times and performed various cancer surgeries using robots. In particular, surgery has the highest ratio of clinical authority required for in-hospital robotic surgery, accounting for 51% of the total clinical authority.
Looking at statistics of up to 4,000 cases, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital successfully performed various high-level surgeries using robots at a relatively even ratio of 33% for hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, 28% for thyroid surgery, 25% for colorectal surgery, and 14% for gastrointestinal surgery. The winning paper is ‘The effect of distal ulna morphology on symptomatic extensor spinal tendon subluxation and clinical outcomes of anatomical reconstruction of the extensor spinal tendon accessory tendon sheath.’
This paper found that negative displacement of the ulna was related to symptomatic extensor tendon subluxation, and that the groove depth of the extensor spinal tendon was related to subluxation of the extensor spinal tendon, but did not show a relationship with symptoms. It was confirmed that anatomical reconstruction of the extensor spinal tendon accessory tendon sheath is an effective surgical treatment for symptomatic extensor spinal tendon subluxation.

The 9th Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease adequacy evaluation was conducted on patients aged 40 or older who received outpatient treatment for COPD at 6,339 medical institutions across the country over the past year. As a result of the evaluation, Incheon St. Mary’s Hospital of the Catholic University of Korea received 92.8 points (overall average 69.4 points) in the COPD evaluation and earned first grade for 8 consecutive years, proving that it is an excellent medical institution for COPD management.
The 6th tuberculosis adequacy evaluation was conducted on 505 medical institutions that provided inpatient and outpatient treatment for new tuberculosis patients from January to June last year. The evaluation indicators consisted of four evaluation indicators and one monitoring indicator, including ▲ Mycobacterium tuberculosis confirmation test implementation rate ▲ routine susceptibility test implementation rate ▲ rapid susceptibility test implementation rate ▲ drug prescription daily rate ▲ treatment success rate.
