Chrysler is recalling 24,111 Pacifica plug-in hybrids built between 2017 and 2021 because their hybrid system’s battery could catch fire.
The recall affects 19,516 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrids located in the US, 2,912 located in Canada and 1,683 located in the rest of the world.
The company will initially install software that will detect if the battery needs replacing. In any cars found to have a defective cell, their battery will be replaced.
To date Chrysler knows of 7 fires that started when the cars were off and parked. That’s why he asks owners to park them outside buildings and away from other vehicles, while also asking them not to charge them.
