You have just come out of your session Sonic 3you typed on your search engine: “is there a second post-credits scene in the film?” and unfortunately for you, the answer is yes. Once again, SEGA and Paramount wanted to play Marvel with big revelations strategically placed after the credits. While it’s hard to miss the first extra scene in this movie, the second is just as important but requires a lot more patience. So that no one is lost after watching Sonic 3 the moviehere’s everything you need to know about the post-credits reveals. If you haven’t been to the movies yet, there’s still time to turn back before the spoilers.
A predictable but satisfactory arrival
Until then, each Sonic feature film took advantage of post-credits scenes to tease the introduction of a new character. In Sonic 1we discovered Tails. In Sonic 2Shadow was confirmed as the antagonist of the upcoming film. Everyone expected Sonic 3 to do the same, and it didn’t fail. The third opus still took the opportunity to play with our emotions. The identity of the next character from the games seemed obvious… but it was with amazement that we discovered an army of Metal Sonic.
And when the surprise effect just begins to wear off, the film moves on to another revelation: the one we were all waiting for. As the blue hedgehog is about to lose to his metal clones, a hammer upsets the robots before returning to the hand of a hooded figure. It doesn’t take much to understand thatAmy Rose will be there for Sonic’s next adventures. Moreover, the protagonist cannot recognize her, even without her hood, which suggests that their meeting will be at the heart of the next feature film.
And Shadow in all this?
Paramount has already made official Sonic 4 for spring 2027. Since we’re going to have to wait quite a while, fortunately the second post-credits scene gives us the final word on Shadow’s fate. One of the major flaws of Sonic 3 is definitely how quickly the story ends. The big final rescue passes so quickly that Shadow and Eggman’s sacrifice almost loses its emotional power. How can such an important and endearing character disappear in the space of a second? Especially since Sonic and his friends turn the page just as quickly. Finally, the final passage of the film reveals to us that Shadow is not dead and is indeed back on Earth. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy… This gathering of the great figures of the franchise gives us hope that Sonic 4 will draw its inspiration from the excellent Sonic Heroes. To be continued.
