The 27-year-old football player Christos Kermelidis is the driver who was charred to death in his car after a traffic accident that occurred outside of Larissa in the early hours of Sunday.

According to the information from onlarissa.gr, the traffic accident happened at around 6 am on Sunday, near the intersection of the New Cemetery, when the vehicle I.X. driven by the unfortunate man veered off course under unspecified circumstances and crashed into a light pole.
The heavy impact caused the vehicle to immediately burst into flames, trapping the driver, who was unable to get out of the car and was charred to death on the spot. Despite the immediate mobilization of the Larissa Fire Service, which rushed to the scene with two water tankers and two auxiliary vehicles, it was not possible to extricate the driver before the fire completely destroyed the vehicle.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire and remove the body of the unfortunate man, but it was already too late. The police authorities are investigating the causes of the accident and the circumstances under which the car veered off course.
Residents of the area speak of a dangerous intersection, where traffic accidents have occurred in the past, and stress the need for increased road safety. At the same time, it is possible that the driver lost control of the vehicle either due to excessive speed or due to the condition of the road surface.
