October 29 Republic Day events were celebrated with enthusiasm in the city at the Izmir Culture Road Festival, which is the fifteenth stop of the Turkey Culture Road Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 16 cities this year to contribute to Turkey’s brand value. Izmir residents who could not fit into the concert area filled the side streets.
Hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the squares during the celebrations of the 101st Anniversary of the Republic. First, Turkish Stars performed a legendary show in Gündoğdu Square. The people of Izmir watched with admiration the 500th domestic show of the Turkish Stars, the pride of the Turkish Air Force. The enthusiastic crowd filling the area with flags and Ataturk posters in their hands shouted “Hey!” It filled the square hours before Douglas’s performance and Murat Boz’s concert. The crowd that could not fit into the concert area overflowed into the streets of Izmir.
TENTH ANNIVERSARY MARCH BY MURAT BOZ
In the streets of Izmir, which were painted red and white with flags, a different kind of enthusiasm was experienced for October 29 Republic Day. The Republic Day enthusiasm, which was celebrated with events throughout the day, reached its peak with the Murat Boz concert in the evening. The whole of Izmir sang the Tenth Anniversary March, performed by the popular artist Murat Boz at the concert, in unison. Boz said, “Happy 101st Anniversary of our Republic. The “Long Live the Republic” celebration received great applause.
REPUBLIC DAY WAS CELEBRATED WITH EVENTS ALL DAY LONG
The “Republic from Liberation to Establishment” concert of the Izmir State Classical Turkish Music Choir met with the people of Izmir at the Bornova Culture and Art Center.
“A Ballet Performance in the Light of the Republic” took place at Izmir Culture and Arts Factory, “Viennese Waltz Performance” took place at Izmir Culture and Arts Factory, and “Rebirth” opera from Izmir State Opera and Ballet took place at Bornova Culture and Art Center.
Izmir Culture and Arts Factory also organizes “Films and Festivals in the Promotion of Culture and Tourism” and Dr. He hosted Barış Eroğlu’s talks on “A Look at Turkish Painting in the Republican Era”.
As part of the October 29 Republic Day Special Film Screening, the movie “The Last Supper” was screened at Paribu Cineverse Konak Pier Cinema.
FESTIVAL FOR CHILDREN
The Children’s Village, located in Gündoğdu Square, includes entertaining activities, workshops, games and theaters for children.
Licensed children’s plays and stage shows, as well as traditional events such as Karagöz Shadow Play and Nasreddin Hodja Musical, also meet with children. Stage shows of cartoon characters that children know from the screens, fair tents, thematic playgrounds, activity tents where art education such as music, drama, dance, ballet and painting are provided continue to welcome their little guests.
On the fourth day of the festival, children had fun with “Meddah Narration” and children’s theater “Canım Kardeşim”.
