3 injured including two students in protest in front of Banga Bhavan

President Md. The protestors, who were stationed in front of the Bangabhavan demanding Sahabuddin’s removal, tried to break the barricade and enter. When the police and army stopped them, a clash broke out with the agitators. Law enforcement forces also threw sound grenades to control the situation. Three people including two students were injured.

This incident happened on Tuesday around 9:30 pm. The injured were rescued and brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

According to hospital sources, 3 people including two students were injured in the sound grenade blast. Small splinters were found on their bodies. They have been kept under observation with first aid.

Earlier, the students and the crowd took a stand in front of Bangabhavan with various banners including ‘Swadhinta Sarvabhaumtva Raksha Committee’, ‘Raktim July-2024’, demanding the removal of the President. After evening, several organizations left Bangabhavan, but the movement was continued by a section of Gana Adhikar Parishad. A section of the protestors broke the dry branches of trees and set them on fire on the road around 8 pm. Tariq Rahman, the leader of the People’s Rights Council, was leading at the time.

At one point, the protesters tried to break the security barricade in front of the Banga Bhavan. At that time, the army and police forces stopped them. Later, the police lobbed sound grenades around 8:25 pm to disperse the protesters. When the protestors got agitated, the policemen were taken to a safe distance. Army personnel are working to ensure security.

At around 12 noon on this day, the procession started from Dhaka University Raju Bhaskarya and went towards Bangabhaban. However, when he wanted to enter the Bangabhavan, he was blocked by the police. Later, the students started protesting in front of the President’s residence.

Giving an ultimatum to the president to resign, the students said that the current president is a friend of Awami League and Sheikh Hasina. We don’t want him to be president. He has to resign within the next 24 hours.
