Here are some new features that would improve the macOS experience
The macOS Sequoia update introduced big changes to the Mac operating system. The new version released in 2024 included new features such as the application Passwordsthe function iPhone Mirroringthe artificial intelligence of Apple Intelligence and even a window organization system. But there is still a long way to go before macOS is perfect.
For many years, users in the Apple ecosystem have asked the company to incorporate many more functions present in iOS or iPadOS to the Mac operating system. In fact, Apple usually introduces the same changes in the three software updates of its three flagship products.
But this year I felt that Apple should have included some news that has come to iOS and that would add a lot of value to macOSenriching the user experience of the system.
Lock Screen Customization
iPhone lock screen customization arrived in iOS 16 but has not made its way to the Mac since. Interestingly, a year later, it was introduced in iPadOS 17. This functionality allows iPhone and iPad users edit the lock screen of your devices with widgets, different fonts with different colors and even shortcuts to system functions. I believe this design change would not only provide a more visually appealing level, but would add a greater layer of productivity to the system.
Home Screen Customization
More recently, Apple introduced a home screen customization system in iOS 18 through which iPhone users can use themes to change the colors of applications and widgets. But again, this change hasn’t come to macOS and would be a great addition without a doubt. Can you imagine how good it would look on the Mac?
Control Center Customization
Another of the functions that Apple should transfer from iOS to macOS is the customization of the Control Center that arrived in iOS 18. The company with the bitten apple logo has not only created a new method to configure the iPhone Control Center buttons , but also has completely redesigned its appearance giving it a more modern and visual touch, although many users still prefer the previous version. The macOS Control Center is in desperate need of a drastic change to offer greater cohesion and many more available features. In fact, it would be great if you could customize their colors!
These changes would help consolidate cohesion between Apple’s two operating systems but would also considerably increase the user experience of the system with a higher level of productivity. It is not only about customization, but also about having many more display options that allow us to better organize our workflow and our daily tasks. These are the iOS features I would love to see in macOS one day. What about you? What iOS features would you like the Mac operating system to include?
