3 killed in Khagrachari clash, Section 144 issued

Due to the clash between Pahari and Bengali in Dighinala of Khagrachari, there was an incident of gunfire in the district headquarters on Thursday night.

There is panic in the entire district including the headquarters. Three people were killed in the night firing and afternoon clashes.

At least 15 people were injured. The deceased persons are Junan Chakma (20), Dhananjay Chakma (50) and Rubel Chakma (30).

Meanwhile, the district administration has issued section 144 in Khagrachari town and district headquarters to prevent vandalism. District Commissioner Md. Sahiduzzaman confirmed this. He said that the administration has taken such measures to prevent any kind of violence.

On Thursday night (around 10:30 PM), heavy gunfire was heard in Narankhkhaiya, Svanirbhar area of ​​the district town. Panic spread throughout the area. Gunshots are heard till late at night.

Among them, Dhananjay Chakma died in a clash at Dighinala on Thursday evening. The other two were brought to the hospital from Khagrachari Sadar in the night with injuries.

Ripple Bappi Chakma, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Khagrachari Sadar Hospital said, 9 people were injured. Most of them came from Sadar Upazila at night. Three of them died.

The cause of death of the deceased will be known after the autopsy. Ripple Bappi Chakma also said that the four people were sent to Chittagong Medical College (CHMEC) hospital for better treatment in the night. There is a Bengali among them. He said that it is possible to treat the remaining 9 injured hill workers at Khagrachari Sadar Hospital.

The bodies of the three are in the morgue of Sadar Hospital. Meanwhile, after the clash between the two sides in Dighinala of Khagrachari, the law and order forces visited the scene on Friday morning.
