300,000 Romanians from the diaspora voted until Sunday at 8:00 am
The data obtained at 8:00 a.m. provide an overview of the overall involvement of Romanians in the electoral process, after two days, Friday and Saturday, in which Romanians from the diaspora were able to express their intention to vote.
Romanians from countries such as Great Britain (42,187 voters), Germany (34,186), Italy (29,491) and Spain (24,621) registered the highest number of votes. In Italy and Spain, although the number of voters is high, compared to the total population of the diaspora in these countries, there is a greater potential for mobilization.
An impressive number of votes were also cast in the Republic of Moldova, where 24,220 voters went to the polls.
In France (10,561 voters) and Belgium (10,322 voters), the presence of Romanians at the polls was also quite consistent.
Instead, the rather small number of voters in Canada (2,166 voters) and the United States (3,201 voters), countries where there are consolidated Romanian communities, is surprising.
In places where the Romanian community is small, the participation was symbolic, represented most likely only by the diplomatic staff. Such countries where the number of votes is below 10 are Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. In Senegal (11 voters), Tanzania (37 voters) or the Tunisian Republic (38 voters), the presence at the polls reflects an interest in elections even in more difficult conditions.
In the Nordic countries, such as Norway (1,325 voters) and Denmark (3,431 voters), the numbers, even if lower, still indicate a good mobilization of the Romanian community.
In Asia, the presence was symbolic: China (158 voters), India (34 voters) and Singapore (125 voters) highlight smaller communities, but interested in the electoral process.
In the Middle East, voters were registered in countries such as the United Arab Emirates (658 voters) and Qatar (207 voters).
More than 5 million Romanians are still expected to express their voting intentions in the 950 organized polling stations.
