The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has informed that 33 people have been arrested for their involvement in trying to implement the directives of the alleged audio clip of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina that went viral. Provocative posters and placards were recovered from them.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations Department of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman told Dhaka Times this information on Sunday midnight.
He said that various organizations announced various programs on the occasion of Shaheed Nur Hossain Day on November 10. This program is held around Shaheed Noor Hussain Chatwar at zero point of Gulistan in the capital. A meeting was called on the verified Facebook page of Awami League to mark the day.
DC Talebur also said, ‘Recently in an audio clip leaked by Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, she can be heard saying that instead of the photo of her and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a festoon made with the photo of the newly elected President of the United States should be placed in that rally. There will be an attack, the photos of that attack must be taken. For this, the camera person should be set in advance. After that, the pictures of the attack will be sent to America and it will be said that Donald Trump supporters have been attacked.
DC Talebur said, “In order to implement this conspiracy, they gave instructions to the party leaders and activists from outside the capital to gather in Dhaka and said, ‘Actually, their objective was to create an anarchic situation and Deterioration of law and order by creating disorder. Destroying the good relations between the United States and the friendly country of Bangladesh by undermining the image of the interim government. After receiving information about their nefarious activities, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted raids in different places of Dhaka city and arrested 33 people.
A large amount of provocative posters, placards with pictures of Donald Trump and cash were recovered from the arrested persons. Talebur Rahman also said that legal measures are being taken to identify the instigators, financiers and those involved in these misdeeds.
