4 crore 61 lakh gold seized in Benapole, trafficker arrested

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have seized 19 pieces of gold bars weighing 4.5 kg from the Amrakhali check post of Benapole while being smuggled into India. At this time, a smuggler named Mahfuz Molla was arrested.

He was arrested along with these golds on Tuesday (September 24) at 4 pm.

The arrested Mahfuz Molla is the son of Hasmat Molla of Lohagara Upazila of Narail district.

According to BGB, BGB took a cautious position at Amrakhali check post under Jessore 49 BGB through secret information. Meanwhile, BGB arrested the smuggler when he came to Amrakhali check post area. Meanwhile, his body was searched and 19 pieces of gold bars were seized.

According to BGB, the market value of seized gold is about Tk 4 crore 61 lakh.

Jessore 49 BGB Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui said, a smuggler with gold bars has been arrested. A case against him has been handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
