The goriest and most superheroic series on the small screen has just revealed the high-octane finale of its 4th season. While waiting for season 5, here are 4 series to discover in streaming: The Boys : Diabolical, Gen V, Invincible as well as Supernatural.
It was thought that The Boys had already reached the heights of hemoglobin, political incorrectness and superheroic parody. However, season 4, which has just ended on July 18, 2024 on Prime Video, proved to us that the series had not yet shown all its limits. So, what to watch on the SVOD platform, after these completely crazy episodes, and while waiting for season 5, which will be the last?
The Boys : Diabolical on Prime Video, for a touch of madness
You find that The Boys often goes overboard? Then you haven’t seen its spin-off yet, in animated format: The Boys : Diabolical. Also known as The Boys Presents: The Diaboliquesthis one-season anthology offers a behind-the-scenes look at the original series, from an even crazier angle.
Each episode was thus imagined by a different personality, from Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) à Andy Samberg (Brooklyn 99) through Aisha Tyler (Friends). A concentrate of black humor in 8 short chapters, sprinkled with uninhibited violence, that one would think came straight out of hell. Truly « Diabolical »as dear Butcher would say.
Gen V on Prime Video, for the teenage touch
Take the irreverent humor of The Boysadd a healthy dose of teen drama and finish with a light touch of storytelling in the style of origin story : congratulations, you have just discovered the explosive cocktail of Gen V. What a spin off of The Boys focuses on the training of superheroes in a special university. The key: the best contracts with Vought International, the company behind the success of these superhuman characters.
Much more teenbut just as bloody as The Boys, Gen V has found its style, while allowing itself obvious links with the original superheroes. One of its leading actors, Chance Perdomo, unfortunately passed away in March 2024, leaving a big void in this series, which has already been renewed for a season 2.

And another series, animated this time, has taken over to denounce their actions, between two bloodsheds: Invincible. It follows Mark Grayson, a teenager with an ordinary destiny. Well, if we forget to mention that his father is the most powerful man in a suit on the planet.
Adapted from the comics by Robert Kirkman, also behind The Walking Deadthese two little-known seasons bring together an irresistible cast in the original version: Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, Beef), Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy, Killing Eve) and even JK Simmons (Whiplash). Invincible is thus an enjoyable initiatory story, despite some episodes that are a bit too long.

Long before The Boysthe showrunner Eric Kripke had above all created one of the most cult series on the small screen: Supernatural. Centered on Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers and hunters of paranormal creatures in their spare time, this monument of pop culture from the early 2000s lasted for 15 seasons. A long-term fraternal adventure, therefore, which continues to influence current productions.
The proof: several actors of Supernatural have donned superhero tights (or not) to appear in The Boyslike Jensen Ackles (who plays Soldier Boy) or Jeffrey Dean Morgan (the famous Joe Kessler, close to Butcher in season 4). While waiting to discover the next cameos that season 5 has in store for us, there is still time to embark on the fantastic road trip of Supernaturalwhich still hasn’t aged a day.
