The start signal of the marathon was given by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Istanbul Deputy Governor Ünal Kılıçarslan, Turkish Athletics Federation President Ahmet Karadağ, Turkish National Paralympic Committee President Murat Aksu, Sports Services General Manager Veli Ozan Çakır, Istanbul Youth and Sports Provincial Director Muhittin Özbay. , Spor Istanbul General Manager Renay Onur and Türkiye İş Bankası General Manager Hakan Aran gave it together.
The marathon, which has the title of “the world’s only intercontinental marathon” and is in the “Gold Label” category of the World Athletics Association, is being held for the 46th time.
In his speech before the start, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu stated that they were in one of the most beautiful marathons in the world and said, “It is the most beautiful marathon in the world because this marathon takes place between two continents. Welcome all of you to Istanbul and I congratulate you all.” he said.
