All court proceedings will be suspended for the second day on Thursday (November 28) to protest the killing of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in the clash over the demand for the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in the Chittagong court premises. Apart from this, five more decisions have been taken by the District Lawyers’ Association, including the organization of the Doa Mahfil.
These decisions were announced in a special circular signed by Chittagong District Bar Association President Mohammad Nazim Uddin Chowdhury and General Secretary Ashraf Hossain Chowdhury Razzak on Wednesday (November 27) afternoon.
According to the circular, advocate Saiful Islam Alif, a resident of Lohagara upazila, a member of the Chittagong District Lawyers Association, was brutally killed by the terrorists of the extremist organization ISKCON while performing his professional duties on November 26. The following decisions were taken in the emergency meeting of the association to protest the said murder.
The decisions are to keep the association’s flag at half-mast and wear black badges, stop work in all court proceedings in Chittagong, organize a doa mahfil at Johor Court Hill Jami Masjid on Thursday to pray for the soul of lawyer Alif, cancel the holiday gathering on the same day. Apart from this, a mourning procession will be held in front of Lawyer Doyal Bhavan at 2 pm on December 1 and the association’s annual indoor games will be suspended.
A boycott program is being held in all the courts of Chittagong on Wednesday in protest against the killing of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif.
