According to the victim’s family and local sources, the fire first started from the house of Mohammad Hossain of the house of Dula Saudagar, Ward No. 8, East Baraghona Emdadia, Gandmara Union of the upazila. From there the fire spread in a moment. Seeing the flames of the fire at night, the local residents tried hard to put out the fire. But immediately Mohammad Hossain, Abu Sagar, Mohammad Salim,
Ferdous, Zahirul Islam Mashek Ahmad, Shamsul Alam and a total of 7 houses were burnt to ashes. This caused a loss of about 40/50 lakhs.

The victim’s family members said with tears in their voices that the fire has finished us all. If the roads were the only means of communication, some of the belongings of our home could have been saved. As the roads leading to Gandmara were unusable, the fire service vehicle could not come on time, so we could not save anything in our home.

Osman Gani, Acting Chairman of UP of that area, said that 7 of them have lost about 40/50 lakh rupees in the fire. I have been in constant touch and informed my superiors about the matter. He expressed his deepest condolences to the affected family and also assured to provide financial assistance from the government.
