7 principles for a perfect prom look. How to avoid fashion faux pas

Prom season is the perfect opportunity to shine and enjoy the perfect evening, but it’s also a time when you can easily fall victim to a fashion faux pas. How to avoid mistakes and look like a real queen at every ball? Here are our 7 tips that will definitely make you shine.

1. Choose the right cut of dress for your figure

There is no one size fits all, so choose a dress that fits your figure perfectly. For women with fuller hips, dresses with an A-line skirt are ideal, while slim figures will stand out in fitted silhouettes. Avoid trends that don’t suit you – it’s more important that you feel comfortable and confident. This is the only way your whole look will look harmonious and you will enjoy admiring glances.

2. Pay attention to the length and material

The prom is a formal event, so the length of the dress should be appropriate to its level. Follow the dress code of the event – mini dresses are a better choice for less formal parties. Choose quality materials such as silk, satin or chiffon that look luxurious and elegant.

3. Color harmony

Consider your skin tone and hair color when choosing a dress color. Warm tones like gold or red will suit darker types, while cool shades like silver or ice blue will bring out the beauty of fair skin. Avoid too flashy colors or inappropriate patterns – simplicity is the key to elegance. Pushing the saw and being the center of attention at all costs may not be the right way sometimes.

4. Don’t underestimate underwear

Poorly chosen underwear can ruin even the most perfect dress. Go for invisible underwear with no seams or pull-on underwear that will smooth out the lines of your figure. If your back is exposed, choose a special bra or breast stickers.

5. Tuning accessories

Again, less is more. Choose one statement accessory, such as earrings or a bracelet – and keep the rest simple. If you have a dress with a neckline, a statement necklace will be a great choice, or conversely, if you wear a strapless dress, long dangling earrings will emphasize the line of your collarbones and let your hairstyle stand out. A little book or a so-called hand bag the clutch should be the perfect finishing touch together with the shoes. Choose high pumps or strappy sandals.

6. Hair and makeup in the right balance

Hair and makeup should complement your overall look, not overwhelm it. Choose a timeless make-up with an emphasis on either the eyes or the lips, but not both. The hairstyle should be natural and highlight your beauty. Overly complex creations can feel dated. In these cases, it is always better to turn to a professional and have your makeup and hair done for a social event.

7. Pay attention to details

Don’t underestimate the little things like manicured nails, hydrated skin and a flawless manicure. Don’t forget deodorant without white marks and perfume – the prom look also includes how you affect those around you. If you feel great, you’ll look great too.
