A seven-year-old girl died drowned after disappearing in the waters of a lake in a biopark in Caraglio, in the province of Cuneo. The little victim was spending the afternoon of Wednesday, July 17 with a summer camp, when, shortly after 4:00 p.m., she suddenly disappeared. The little girl was found two meters deep underwater, near death, but the resuscitation attempts of the 118 rescuers were in vain.

The alarm was raised by the leaders of the Oratorio Valle Stura summer centre in Demonte who organised the day in Biopark “Acquaviva”after losing track of the little girl.
The firefighters immediately began their search, arriving on the scene with the divers of the Saf nucleus (Speleo alpino fluviale), with the intervention of the helicopter to fly over the area. According to the first information reported by The printthe group of about fifty people was reportedly about 50 meters from the lake, when those responsible realized that the little girl was missing.

With the help of volunteers from nearby Morozzo, the rescuers searched the entire area of the biopark in the Bottonasco area, in the lower Grana Valley, a fifteen-hectare structure inaugurated in 2022, which includes a swimming lake and a basin of over 50 thousand cubic meters of water.
Teams from Cuneo, La Spezia and Turin intervened on site, in addition to the use of Alpine Rescue specialists and drone operators. Also at the site of the accident were the Guardia di Finanza, the Carabinieri and the mayor of Caraglio, Paola Falco.
The discovery of the little girl
The little girl was found in desperate conditions at the bottom of the lake after about two hours of searching, around 6 pm. The resuscitation maneuvers carried out on site by the medical staff were useless. According to initial reconstructions, the little girl did not know how to swim: the Cuneo Prosecutor’s Office is preparing to open a file on the incident for manslaughter.
On the same day, Wednesday 17 July, the bodies of a mother and son who disappeared in Riva del Garda, having drowned in the lake waters, were recovered.
