The Ministry of Health of the Palestinian terrorist movement Hamas, against which the Israeli army is fighting in the enclave, said earlier today that the number of dead Palestinians in Gaza had risen to 45,717 and wounded to 108,856. This balance does not yet include some of today’s deaths.

Rescue services said 17 people, including seven children and a woman, were killed in a dawn raid on two residential buildings in Gaza City. “The house where several displaced people lived was completely destroyed,” a civil defense spokesman told AFP.

Images taken by AFP in the Shujaja neighborhood in the east of the city show residents searching through the smoking wreckage and the bodies of victims wrapped in white dressing gowns.

Five guards of a humanitarian convoy and three members of a family, including a child, were killed in the Israeli strikes in the city of Khan Yunis. At least six Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes in Jabalia in the north of the country and near the central city of Deir al-Balah, medics also said.

Palestinian authorities also said that the Israeli army shot dead an 18-year-old youth in the city of Nablus in the Israeli-occupied West Bank overnight today; nine other people were injured, four of them seriously.

The Israeli army told AFP that the attack was carried out as part of an anti-terrorist operation. “The terrorists planted explosives in the area to attack the soldiers, throwing explosives, Molotov cocktails, stones and pyrotechnics,” the army spokesman said.

According to the Palestinian Authority, Israeli soldiers and settlers in the West Bank have killed at least 815 Palestinians since the start of the Gaza war. At the same time, according to official Israeli data, at least 25 Israelis, both civilians and soldiers, were killed here during Palestinian attacks and during Israeli military operations.

The current war in the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023, when gunmen led by Hamas invaded southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking another roughly 250 hostages into the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army subsequently launched an offensive, the victims of which are a number of women and children.

Violence between Israel and the Palestinians in the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since 1967, has also been escalating since the conflict began.
