8 tips to get rid of stress not only in the office

Most of us get stressed from time to time. The most appropriate solution is, of course, to prevent long-term stress. But how can you quickly and effectively relieve sudden stress, for example at work or after disagreements with your partner or children? We asked selected experts for their opinion.

Deep breathing

Try to stop for a moment, relax and focus on your breath and take deep, slow breaths in and out. This can help release tension and calm your mind. You can also try breathing according to Wim Hof, who recommends “Breathe, it’s free”. An increased level of oxygen in the body brings a whole range of health benefits. You will gain more energy, reduce your stress level, and also strengthen your immune system in the fight against pathogens.

Music

“Playing relaxing music or your favorite music is also a suitable solution. By closing your eyes, you detach yourself from your surroundings for a moment and give your body and mind space to relax. Listening to music can reduce the body’s levels of cortisol, a hormone that can contribute to feelings of stress and anxiety.” recommends psychologist Mgr. Simona Hřebíčková.

Walk

Take a short break and leave the office or home for a short walk. Physical activity and a change of environment can help reduce stress, calm down and focus on important things. If you have a park or other greenery nearby, the walk will have an even greater effect.

Herbal tea

Herbal tea is a great way to reduce stress. For example, herbal teas such as lemon balm, passion flower, chamomile or valerian are suitable. If you are not a fan of herbal teas, green tea will also help to calm you down.

Magnesium

“Magnesium has the function of an energy carrier in the human body. It helps prevent fatigue and can contribute to the body’s ability to relax and fight stress. Magnesium also supports muscle and nervous system function. After potassium, magnesium is the second most important mineral in the body. Some forms of magnesium, such as various magnesium tablets, have low absorbability and the effect is therefore insufficient. An increasingly popular solution is the mineralization of tap water in homes and offices using special filters, which also remove heavy metals, chlorine, microplastics, bacteria and other coarse and fine impurities.” recommends Jaroslav Žák from BWT.

Meditation

Try a short meditation right in your office or at home in your bedroom. There are many mobile apps or websites including YouTube channels offering meditation exercises for quick relaxation.

Essential oils

“Try an ingenious blend of essential oils to relieve stress and overwork. It relieves agitation, frustration and irritation, gives calm strength and confidence. A mixture of essential oils can be helpful for climacteric problems,” he recommends Ilona Bittnerová from Maluna.cz.

Humor

Laughter is the spice of life. Therefore, in a stressful situation, try to find an activity that makes you smile. Listen to a funny podcast, read a funny article or watch videos that will make you laugh.
