A dramatic accident occurred this Tuesday early in the afternoon on the quays of Rouen, below the Jeanne d’Arc bridge. An 82-year-old walker died after being hit by a fire truck, which was preparing for an exercise, reports France Bleu Normandie. The victim died instantly.
An investigation into intentional homicide has been opened to shed light on this accident. The driver and the two other members of the team present at the time of the incident will be questioned by the police, and the vehicle has been placed under seal. An autopsy of the victim has been scheduled. The platforms were closed to the public throughout the emergency response.
