According to the statement made by the ministry, as a result of the risk analysis and intelligence studies carried out by the Mersin Customs Protection Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams in order to combat smuggling, 72 electric vehicles declared as other goods were seized.
In the operation carried out at the Edirne Hamzabeyli Customs Gate, 15 vehicles that were brought to Turkey by taking advantage of touristic facilities and were intended to be dismantled and put into use by changing their chassis and license plates were detected.
Thus, 87 vehicles worth 72 million 425 thousand liras, which were intended to be smuggled into the country through illegal transactions, were seized in two operations.
Investigations continue at the relevant chief public prosecutor’s offices.
