BarcelonaThe Barcelona Court has sentenced the ex-wife of La Trinca member Josep Maria Mainat, Angela Dobrowokski, to four and a half years in prison for injecting her with insulin and causing her to go hypoglycemic. On the other hand, she is exempt from the attempted murder of which she was accused because the court considers that, by calling the emergency room, she repented and tried to reverse the harm she wanted to do to her.
Upon receiving the sentence, Mainat said: “I am happy that it has been recognized that the assassination attempt existed. It has been more than proven.” He has also questioned the exemption from the crime for having called the emergency room, and both he and his lawyer, Olga Tubau, have added that they will consider an appeal.
Initially, Dobrowolski faced a much higher sentence of 16 years in prison, and in addition to attempted murder, he was charged with felony disclosure of secrets for unauthorized access to his computer and his mail However, during the trial Mainat announced that he forgave this second crime and, therefore, withdrew the accusation. Mainat’s pardon also dropped the crime of revealing secrets from the sentence request that had been made by the prosecutor’s office, since as a rule this crime is extinguished if the victim forgives it. This lowered Dobrowolski’s sentence requests to 13 years, which were initially 16 years.
