Among them are not only different network throughput and insufficient computing power of Google servers, but also different policies of the corporation regarding access to the mobile and browser versions of the video hosting service.
Gorelkin added that most of Google’s caching servers, which are located on the nodes of telecom operators in Russia, require updating. But this cannot be done, because formally the corporation has left the country, and American sanctions do not allow it to work with Russian contractors.
“So sooner or later all this equipment will simply stop working. And here I am more worried not even about YouTube, but about the stability of the Android operating system, which also depends largely on these servers,” the deputy said.
Internet providers that use technologies to bypass restrictions on access to websites and ignore the regulator’s requirements may lose their licenses, Roskomnadzor warned in early September.
