A man has been arrested and suspected of stalking the pop singer Taylor Swift prior to her three concerts in the German city of Gelsenkirchen, which has been renamed Swiftkirchen on the occasion of the concerts, writes the Norwegian news agency NTB.
According to the German authorities, the man was arrested following “tips from the concert organizer”, who said that the man had previously made threats against Taylor Swift.
There were about 60,000 people at Wednesday’s concert, which was peaceful. In total, it is expected that around 200,000 people will come during the three concerts Swift holds in Gelsenkirchen as part of her ‘Eras’ tour.
According to NTB, no further details about the man or the reason for the arrest have been published. There have previously been cases where people have pursued or stalked the popular singer. According to her lawyer, there have been cases where the persons have had both weapons and ammunition.
In addition to visiting Gelsenkirchen, Swift also plays in Germany in Hamburg and Munich.
