“Dune: Prophecy” starts this year on Sky – New trailer online

With “Dune: Prophecy,” the universe surrounding the desert planet is being made into a series. In Germany, the sci-fi format will be shown on Sky.

It is currently unclear when the hero’s journey, or rather the anti-hero’s journey, of the young Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) will continue in cinemas. Recently, news circulated that a new film by director Denis Villeneuve (“Dune”, “Blade Runner 2049”) will be released in cinemas in December 2026. This could actually be the conclusion of his “Dune“-trilogy, which entered its second round at the beginning of the year with “Dune: Part Two” and, among other things, Amazon or the Sky Store is available. It is also possible that Villeneuve will first devote himself to one of his various other projects. However, one thing is already known: “Dune” fans can look forward to new content from the film and novel universe around the desert planet Arrakis in 2024. In the fall, a new prequel series called “Dune: Prophecy” will start, which takes place many thousands of years before the events of “Dune”. The show is based on the novel “The throne of the desert planet“ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It tells the story of how two Harkonnen sisters founded the Bene Gesserit order to secretly control the fate and power struggles of the universe and determine the future.

“Dune: Prophecy” starts in November on Sky and Wow

The first season of “Dune: Prophecy” will consist of six episodes and will feature Emily Watson, Mark Strong and Olivia Williams in the ensemble. Alison Schapker is the showrunner and executive producer of the format. While the series will be broadcast in the USA on Max, it will be available in Germany from November exclusively on Sky and Wow stream, as the pay-TV provider announced on Thursday.
