- Monitors: Which manufacturer are buyers most satisfied with?
- Category Product Quality
- Category Brand/Manufacturer
- Category Energy Efficiency/Sustainability & Special Prize
Many private households and offices have equipped themselves with new monitors during the Corona period. Although manufacturers were able to enjoy enormous sales growth, they had to overcome a longer dry spell in the following years. Sales figures are slowly returning to normal – many market researchers are even expecting sales to increase in 2024. The first quarter of 2024 at least looked good: According to IDC, almost as many devices were shipped as in the first quarter of 2019 (60.5 million). However, consumers looking for a new monitor are often spoiled for choice. There are many manufacturers and, in addition to price/performance, many customers are paying more attention to product quality or energy consumption. To find out how customers rate their current monitor, we have also conducted a extensive study Eight of the largest monitor brands are represented, from A like Acer to S like Samsung.
Evaluation in three categories
Within our survey we cover the following three categories:
- Brand/Manufacturer
- Product quality
- Energy efficiency/sustainability
In each of these categories, several factors play a role. Brand/Manufacturer These are, for example, price/performance or recommendation rate, Product quality such as processing and image quality; the category Energy efficiency / sustainability Finally, the power consumption and the effectiveness of the monitor’s power saving mode were included. A total of 16 individual aspects were surveyed. WPS-Score the statements are summarized and converted into scores/grades. The overall result is the average value of the three categories.
And the winner is…
The final result was very close overall. All manufacturers achieved a good overall result. With 117 points and a grade of 1.8, the manufacturer AOC – albeit only just – beat the competition. Dell finally reached the finish line with 116 points, just one point less, followed by Eizo with 111 points and a score of 1.9. According to the study, Acer came last in the ranking with a WPS of 100, which corresponds to a score of 2.0 and thus a “good”.
