New portable CD player can replace your Sony Discman

Fiio, a Chinese audio product manufacturer, is releasing a new $179 portable CD player in September that offers modern features that will allow you to finally replace your old one like Sony’s Discman.

Although streaming music is still the biggest, interest in music on physical media is growing more and more over the years. After vinyl made a comeback, now is the time for CDs to return and to be able to listen to these compact discs on the fly, new CD players are now starting to be released with updated features.

To be released in several different colors.

The DM13 has modern connections such as Bluetooth connectivity with support for AptX, AptX HD, AptX Low Latency and SBC codecs, which allows you to connect the device to wireless headphones. For purists who want to run a cable, there is both a 3.5 mm headphone output and a 4.4 mm balanced headphone connection.

The device has a rechargeable battery that is enough for eight hours of playback. You can also plug the DM13 into your sound system with several different connections. When the DM13 is used with a sound system, you can plug the power plug into the wall, bypassing the built-in battery to avoid wear and tear.

Of course, there is shake memory which means that your music session doesn’t start to chop if you decide to do a spontaneous dance, or go fast. In addition to standard CDs, the CD player can handle other audio formats such as MP3, FLAC and WAV burned on a CD.

The Fiio DM13 will be launched in September and the price tag is expected to be 180 USD in the USA, which is expected to translate to just over 2,000 kroner here in Sweden.
