The AI chip giant unveiled its “Blackwell” series of chips in March, which will be mass-produced later this year. Within that series, the B200 is 30 times faster than its predecessor in some tasks such as chatbot responses, Reuters reports.

Nvidia will work with Inspur, one of its main distributors in China, to launch and distribute the chip tentatively called “B20,” the sources said, declining to be identified. Nvidia is expected to release precise information soon.

A Nvidia spokesperson declined to comment on the media’s allegations, while Inspur did not respond to requests for comment.

Washington tightened controls on the export of cutting-edge semiconductors to China in 2023, seeking to prevent breakthroughs in the development of supercomputers that could help the Chinese military.

Nvidia is on track to sell $12 billion worth of artificial intelligence chips in China this year, despite US export controls that have cut the company’s business in one of the world’s biggest semiconductor markets. Biznis.rs
