This morning, the Israeli army called on the residents of the Gaza Strip to evacuate the eastern parts of the city of Khan Younis, where it later carried out an intervention due to renewed rocket fire. The subsequent bombing claimed at least 27 lives, according to the Palestinian WAFA agency. The Palestinian Authority, controlled by the terrorist movement Hamas, does not distinguish between civilians and militants in its balance sheets.
The Israelis previously designated the east of Khan Yunis as a humanitarian zone, Reuters notes. The zone’s borders were adjusted by the Israeli military this morning due to “significant terrorist activity and rocket attacks against Israel” coming from the area. The army sends evacuation orders to Palestinian civilians through text messages, phone calls and other media transmissions, The Times of Israel website writes.
Local sources of the WAFA agency note that the Israelis today did not give civilians enough time to move before the air force and tanks launched strikes. The Palestinian authorities informed SELČ about the first victims in Khan Júnis around nine this morning.
Fighting in Gaza continues more than nine months after Hamas attacked Israel. At least 39,006 people lost their lives and 89,818 were injured in the zone, where 2.3 million Palestinians live in an area smaller than Prague. This is according to today’s report from the health authority controlled by Hamas. The vast majority of the inhabitants of the narrow coastal strip had to leave their homes and are surviving in very difficult conditions. The previous terrorist attack on Israel claimed the lives of around 1,200 people, about 250 people were kidnapped by the militants to Gaza.
