According to the Ministry of Defense, the flight from the United States of America to Slovakia was provided by American pilots. Before landing, both planes flew over the airport and passed through a “gate of glory” made of fire extinguishers.

A ceremony is associated with the arrival of the planes. The Commander-in-Chief of the Slovak Armed Forces and President Peter Pellegrini, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD), Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces Daniel Zmeko and other guests should participate in it.

The fighters should be located in Kuchyna until the reconstruction of Sliač airport is completed.

Slovakia signed a contract for 14 American-made F-16 C/D Block 70 fighters at the end of 2018. The delivery of the aircraft was delayed due to the pandemic.

Slovakia officially received the first two fighter jets from the USA at the end of February this year. Both aircraft were used for the training of Slovak technicians before arriving in Slovakia. The third fighter should arrive in Slovakia by the end of this year.
