Emmanuel Macron visited the Olympic Village ahead of the Paris 2024 Games

President Emmanuel Macron visited the athletes’ village in Seine-Saint-Denis, where he met the athletes, staff and volunteers of Paris 2024, reports L’Equipe. In the afternoon, he received the foreign press at the Élysée Palace, and in the evening he attended the opening of the IOC session.

“Are you motivated for these Games?” asked President Macron in the reception hall of the main building of the French delegation in the athletes’ village. Accompanied by sports minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, Paris 2024 president Tony Estanguet and CNOSF chief David Lappartient, he posed for the now-traditional photo and selfie with the triple Olympic canoeing champion.

“Is that okay, is everyone okay here?” asked the head of state as he shook hands with Antoine Dupont, who begins his tour with the rugby sevens team on Wednesday.

Emmanuel Macron went straight to the 10th floor

After a quick visit to the tricolor rooms on the 2nd floor of the building, Emmanuel Macron went straight to the 10th floor, to the terrace that offers a 360-degree view of all of Paris. A rooftop with a wooden floor, with a few sunbeds and red beanbags.

Greeted by the director of the village Laurent Michaud, Emmanuel Macron crossed the athletes’ square before going to the base of the French athletes. Not without first thanking the Paris 2024 team and volunteers.

“You are in the heart of the casemate, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart on behalf of the entire nation,” the president told them. He then stopped for a long time to shake the hands of the foreign athletes, surprised and delighted to see the President of the Republic in color, and to take pictures with them.

The president then went to the village’s main restaurant

The president then went to the village’s main restaurant, located 400 meters away, where he was greeted by Martin Fourcade, five-time Olympic biathlon champion and president of the Paris 2024 Athletes’ Commission. Tray in hand, he chose pizza and watermelon before sitting down at a long table in front of Antoine Dupont, surrounded by 3×3 basketball champion Laëtitia Guapo and Tony Estanguet.

The head of state continued his sporting journey, receiving the foreign press at the Élysée Palace on the occasion of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, before welcoming IOC President Thomas Bach and members of this body to the Louis Vuitton Foundation for the inauguration of the 142nd – sessions of the IOC.
